About Us
The Manjusri Symphonic Winds (MJRSW) was formed in Year 2005 catering mainly to alumni from the Manjusri Concert Band. Its formation is to encourage music making even upon graduation from the Manjusri Secondary School.
In the 2005 Sentosa Balloon Hats Festival, the Symphonic Winds collaborated with the Manjusri Concert Band and was awarded the 3rd Prize in the People’s Choice Award.
The Symphonic Winds also performed with the Manjusri Concert Band in their first public concert, mbrosia, at the Singapore Conference Hall in December 2007. The collaborative effort proved to be an excellent opportunity for both bands to share ideas, creativity and good practices with each other. It also developed the band’s technical and musical skills.
In addition to mbrosia, the Symphonic Winds has also performed with the Manjusri Concert Band during the school’s biannual production for performing arts groups, Montage, in 2004 and 2006. This production provides partnership opportunities for the Manjusri Choir, Dance Club, Chinese Orchestra and Concert Band to come together for a group effort to develop their standard of professionalism.
